Since I am kind of an unofficial brand ambassador for Springfield Armory. I am always getting the question of what’s new in their pipeline and when are they going to release such and such product. And while I have some sources, I don’t always know exactly what Springfield is doing and sometimes even I am surprised. But when you follow a company long enough you do get some insight into how a company thinks and works. Here are my best predictions and sort of a wish list of what I want to see from Springfield. And while yes these are educated guesses, remember I have a pretty good track record.

Suppressors are hot, think back to a time before Trump was president. The rumors were abundant about the Hearing Protection Act. Finally the 2A community could see a light at the end of the tunnel where suppressors would fall out of the NFA classification. Even the the presidents son was pushing suppressor use. The surge and build up was off the charts, us old time suppressor owners bought more and took advantage of the crazy deals. At the same time countless first time suppressor owners join in making it hard to find any thing in stock even with the long wait times for approvals. And while events dictated that the HPA faded from favor, really the popularity and demand for suppressors never ceased. Springfield Armory already has an NFA SBR SAINT, so how far fetched would it be for Springfield to make an in house suppressor? Imagine shooting your SAINT and attached to the barrel is a suppressor with the Ordnance logo somehow on the endcap. The exit hole is exactly where the black bomb is in the logo.

Pistol Calibre Carbine PCC I want to see a whole new firearms platform. Not necessarily an 9mm AR15 SAINT, I want Springfield’s take on something like the CZ Scorpion, Grand Power Stribog, LWRC SMG and the B&T APC. Now you could say that a platform like that easily lends to using the XD or XDM magazines and as long as Springfield made a reliable 30 rod mag that would be cool. But they could easily utilize what is now almost a standard PCC the CZ scorpion mags or Colt Pattern SMG mags. Magpul makes pretty cheap and reliable scorpion mags. having a new Springfield platform that is compatible with the magazines from other PCC firearms is cool. Even though I don’t want a 9mm AR does not mean I don’t want it to be AR parts compatible. AR pistol grips and triggers are abundant and come in all flavors to satisfy any shooter. Why reinvent that part of the wheel. I want to put my Franklin Armory Binary trigger in this beast to rock and roll.

Staccato 2011 clone Surely by now that 2011 1911 patents are expired. Springfield makes some of the finest 1911’s and this is where Springfield should turn next. Let roll with an ultra capacity Gucci 2011. The STI 2011 used to be the realm of the competition shooter with their ultra race guns. We can all thank Kiano Reeves and the John Wick series for the rise of the tactical 2011. STI turned into Staccato and their coveted products.

Hellcats So this is an old prediction that has actually panned out. My original prediction was larger Hellcat and a manual safety. The RDP is larger and now comes with a manual safety. So further expanding on my prediction, can you imagine a hellcat the same height and length of say a Glock 19. The hellcat is thinner and would end up with a higher capacity than the Glock what not to love about that. Lets also roll out the FatCAT in 45acp.

Hex Optics You will probably yell at me and say…hey dummy they did that. Well yes, but my prediction is that the Hex optics lineup will expand. How about Springfield branded risers, and a whole line up of adapters that allow the Hex to work with Glocks etc. Then how about an optic to compete with tube style red dots like the Holosun or Romeo series? Lets move up even further and I want an AR scope with magnification of 1-4 or 1-6 that can be used as a fast red dot or a medium distance scope. This is not so far fetched. Up to around 2004/2006 Springfield Armory used to sell magnified optics.

Parts Eventually Springfield is going to have to sell the new goodies that they are making. The XDM Elites came with some nice magwels and magazine base plates. Now they sell red dots….so they have to sell adaptors right? How about threaded barrels already notched for that fancy new compensator. Come on Springfield take my money!
